Fourteen Years...

Thursday, February 22, 2007

Sounds Good to Me, Too

One sunny day in 2008, an old man approached the White House from across Pennsylvania Avenue, where he'd been sitting on a park bench.

He spoke to the Marine standing guard and said, "I would like to go in and meet with President Hillary Clinton."

The Marine replied, "Sir, Mrs. Clinton is not President and doesn't reside here."

The old man said, "Okay," and walked away.

The following day, the same man approached the White House and said to the same Marine, "I would like to go in and meet with President Hillary Clinton."

The Marine again told the man, "Sir, as I said yesterday, Mrs. Clinton is not President and doesn't reside here." The man thanked him and again walked away .

The third day, the same man approached the White House and spoke to the very same Marine, saying "I would like to go in and meet with President Hillary Clinton."

The Marine, understandably agitated at this point, looked at the man and said, "Sir, this is the third day in a row you have been here asking to speak to Mrs. Clinton. I've told you already several times that Mrs. Clinton is not the President and doesn't reside here. Don't you understand?"

The old man answered, "Oh, I understand you fine; I just love hearing your answer!"

The Marine snapped to attention, saluted, and said,
"See you tomorrow, Sir!"

Another Defender's View...

In stark contrast to one "Mr. Martin", the whining Marine's droning lamentations, here is "Sergeant D's" list of complaints, who is stationed in Afghanistan. This letter was sourced and now presented here from Blackfive's excellent blog...

"Things that I am tired of in this war:

I am tired of Democrats saying they are patriotic and then insulting my commander in chief and the way he goes about his job.

I am tired of Democrats who tell me they support me, the soldier on the ground, and then tell me the best plan to win this war is with a “phased redeployment” (liberal-speak for retreat) out of the combat zone to someplace like Okinawa.

I am tired of the Democrats whining for months on T.V., in the New York Times, and in the House and Senate that we need more troops to win the war in Iraq, and then when my Commander in Chief plans to do just that, they say that is the wrong plan, it won’t work, and we need a “new direction.”

I am tired of every Battalion Sergeant Major and Command Sergeant Major I see over here being more concerned about whether or not I am wearing my uniform in the “spot on,” most garrison-like manner; instead of asking me whether or not I am getting the equipment I need to win the fight, the support I need from my chain of command, or if the chow tastes good.

I am tired of junior and senior officers continually doubting the technical expertise of junior enlisted soldiers who are trained far better to do the jobs they are trained for than these officers believe.

I am tired of senior officers and commanders who fight this war with more of an eye on the media than on the enemy, who desperately needs killing.

I am tired of the decisions of Sergeants and Privates made in the heat of battle being scrutinized by lawyers who were not there and will never really know the state of mind of the young soldiers who were there and what is asked of them in order to survive.

I am tired of CNN claiming that they are showing “news,” with videotape sent to them by terrorists, of my comrades being shot at by snipers, but refusing to show what happens when we build a school, pave a road, hand out food and water to children, or open a water treatment plant.

I am tired of following the enemy with drones that have cameras, and then dropping bombs that sometimes kill civilians; because we could do a better job of killing the right people by sending a man with a high powered rifle instead.

I am tired of the thousands of people in the rear who claim that they are working hard to support me when I see them with their mochas and their PX Bags walking down the street, in the middle of the day, nowhere near their workspaces.

I am tired of Code Pink, Daily Kos, Al-Jazzera, CNN, Reuters, the Associated Press, ABC, NBC, CBS, the ACLU, and CAIR thinking that they somehow get to have a vote in how we blast, shoot and kill these animals who would seek to subdue us and destroy us.

I am tired of people like Meredith Vieria from NBC asking oxygen thieves like Senator Chuck Hagel questions like “Senator, at this point, do you think we are fighting and dying for nothing?” Meredith might not get it, but soldiers do know the difference between fighting and dying for something and fighting and dying for nothing. [We can now add would be Prez. "Oh But, Obama" to Vieria's team...]

I am tired of hearing multiple stories from both combat theaters about snipers begging to do their jobs while commanders worry about how the media might portray the possible casualties and what might happen to their career.

I am tired of hearing that the Battalion Tactical Operations Center got a new plasma screen monitor for daily briefings, but rifle scope rings for sniper rifles, extra magazines, and necessary field gear were disapproved by the unit supply system.

I am tired of out of touch general officers, senators, congressmen and defense officials who think that giving me some more heavy body armor to wear is helping me stay alive. Speed is life in combat and wearing 55 to 90 pounds of gear for 12 to 20 hours a day puts me at a great tactical disadvantage to the idiot, mindless terrorist who is wearing no armor at all and carrying an AK-47 and a pistol.

I am tired of soldiers who are stationed in places like Kuwait and who are well away from any actual combat getting Hostile Fire/Imminent Danger Pay and the Combat Zone Tax Exclusion when they live on a base that has a McDonald’s, a Pizza Hut, a Subway, a Baskin Robbins, an internet café, 2 coffee shops and street lights.

I am tired of senior officers and commanders who take it out and “measure” every time they want to have a piece of the action with their helicopters or their artillery; instead of putting their egos aside and using their equipment to support the grunt on the ground.

I am tired of senior officers and commanders who are too afraid for their careers to tell the truth about what they need to win this war to their bosses so that the soldiers can get on with kicking the ass of these animals.

I am tired of Rules of Engagement being made by JAG lawyers and not Combat Commanders. We are not playing Hopscotch over here. There is no 2nd place trophy either. I think that if the enemy knew some rough treatment and some deprivation was at hand for them, instead of prayer rugs, special diets and free Korans; this might help get their terrorist minds “right.”

I am tired of seeing Active Duty Army and Marine units being extended past their original redeployment dates, when there are National Guard Units that have yet to deploy to a combat zone in the last 40 years.

I am tired of hearing soldiers who are stationed in safe places talk about how hard their life is.

I am tired of seeing Infantry Soldiers conducting what amounts to “SWAT” raids and performing the US Army’s version of “CSI Iraq” and doing things like filling out forms for evidence when they could be better used to hunt and kill the enemy.

I am tired of senior officers and commanders who look first in their planning for how many casualties we might take, instead of how many enemy casualties we might inflict.

I am tired of begging to be turned loose so that this war can be over. Those of us who fight this war want to win it and go home to their families. Prolonging it with attempts to do things like collect “evidence” or present whiz bang briefings on a new plasma screen TV is wasteful and ultimately, dulls the edge of our Infantry soldiers who are trained to kill people and break things, not necessarily in that order.

We are not in Iraq and Afghanistan to build nations.

We are there to kill our enemies.

We make the work of the State Department easier by the results we achieve.

It is only possible to defeat an enemy who kills indiscriminately by utterly destroying him. He cannot be made to yield or surrender. He will fight to the death by the hundreds to kill only one or two of us.

And so far, all of our “games” have been “away games,” and I don’t know about the ignorant, treasonous Democrats and the completely insane radical leftists and their thoughts on the matter, but I would like to keep our road game schedule.

So let’s get it done. Until the fight is won and there is no more fight left.

-D"

It is frustrating beyond words to me, and those civilian Conservatives here at home like me, to watch this tsunami of Leftist crap permeate the news and even our Congressional halls every single day... Try to imagine how difficult to accept it must be when you are a soldier, with a family and friends and a life waiting at home, who stubbornly, bravely focus on the real job at hand over there, all the while in constant, eminent peril.

Would it not be difficult enough for these courageous, honor bound, duty driven defenders of YOU AND ME to do their job with the support from us???

Why do so many of the spoiled, uncaring and ignorant make their job exponentially harder???

When can we be allowed to fight the enemy abroad and not be forced to simultaneously defend against the enemy's enablers here at home???

I am under the apparently mistaken impression that sacrificing everything about yourself for your country and the people within it... should be enough.

An Exceptional "Crash Course"
on the Finer Points of Islamic Worship

Well, as they say, this was one hammer blow that squarely hit the nail head! The next time that someone tries to feed you the popular liberal horse hockey that Islam is a "religion of peace" or something other than a twisted, mind boggling cult of liberty imprisonment and death, relate these well assembled facts to them and watch them wriggle for comfort room.

When you're done absorbing this impressively succinct piece, I would encourage you to sniff around further in this gentleman's blog. He is yet another new and welcome Conservative discovery for me with excellent writing ability and lots of hard hitting fact. I can't begin to count how many times I have said that finding and reading the work of strong minds such as this is the greatest reward that the blogging experience has consistently returned. It just gets better and better!

I extend a well deserved bow in the direction of Yankee Doodle!

Vacillating Amoeba

Here is something to make anyone with even a cursory knowledge of history and fact head for the lavatory to hurl your most recent meal. It was written by one Philip Martin, a wanna-be soldier who mistakenly joined the Marine Corps. Go ahead and get angry with me for criticizing him if you see fit. But I'll be damned if I am going to somehow assign any sort of immunity to this man for his baseless venom simply because he joined the military. There is a lot more (at least, there should be) to being a true soldier than just wearing the uniform.

One of Mr. Martin's early burning questions put forth:

"How do you justify 'sacrificing' your life for a war which is not only illegal, but is being prosecuted to the extent where the only thing keeping us there is one man's power, and his ego."

What unfounded rubbish... pure gibberish and BS. "Illegal" war? By whose standards and are we or are we not supposedly sovereign?

We are not there due to "one man's ego". While there are many procedures and undertakings that I believe should have been prosecuted differently (and especially more harshly) vs. the steps this administration has chosen, we are there because we have a President who sees clearly the big picture threat and wishes to save future generations from the demise that the radicals would surely impose upon us otherwise. You think that the criticism and raw sewage that the Left throws at our President somehow boosts his ego? You think he would endure such because it is desirable or cute?

We
went there to remove a madman dictator who imposed a thirty year totalitarian rule over his people. We went there because of evidence of weapons we believed were possessed there which have the ability to destroy on a massive, never seen scale. (Surely, you will say Jorge "lied"... the information and evidence we relied upon did not come from Jorge Bush, but from our intelligence agencies, and virtually everyone within our Congress agreed with it at the time. But what the hell, it is easier for you to ignore that, too! The dead Kurds of northern Iraq would argue that one with you if they were alive. We may well see the day when these weapons re-surface and are used yet. Fools like you would rather believe they were some fantasy and that our real enemy is our President. Your gullibility is only exceeded by your cowardice.)

We
went there to remove a monster who quite likely has killed more millions of Muslim citizens than any other animal in history. We remain there to kill the throngs of terrorists that continue to swarm in because they, unlike this "soldier", recognize the huge importance of defeating us there. It would be both an inspiration and motivation to show the remainder of the teetering Islamists that a caliphate is possible and feasible. Terrorists see this clearly while you conveniently choose not to.

We
remain there because it is a hugely strategic place to have our forces to deal with the uncertainties of Iran, Syria and Lebanon. We remain there because if we leave now, the country would digress into wide open civil warfare and simultaneously be overrun with external Al Qaeda elements. The bloodbath would be tremendous, far beyond the amount of casualties thus far incurred.

No, it is not fun nor pretty there now. But it is no more difficult to sustain or fight for than a multitude of battles that our forefathers fought elsewhere to repel previous rabid, worldwide threats to freedom and civilization. Thankfully, our fathers of history had the
fortitude to see beyond that which was their own self-centered world and give of themselves for their children and future generations. These are facts, cold, hard and real. I cannot fathom the selfish, shallow mindset that must be necessary to allow these present day realities to be ignored. Mr. Martin obviously can, and he grasps and embraces it.

This is the product of a would-be soldier who has
volunteered for his military service and been specifically trained as to what to do in our current areas of war as well as why we are there. He has, however, chosen to see only what he wishes to see. Surely he would be much happier (something paramount and vastly more important to him than his duties as a member of the US military) if he was back home and able to sing shallow-minded chants with his real heroes, Jane, Susan, Tim, Sean and Cindy.

Assumably, the despicable acts of terror that this video compilation by the David Horowitz Freedom Center has reviewed have no impact or hint of reality to young Mr. Martin. (Sincere appreciation to USpace of "Hard To Swallow" blog for bringing this to our attention in one of his recent comments here). No, Sir, let's just ignore what we already know and blame it on Jorge Bush and the rest of us evil Americans for deserving the hatred the perverted "religion" of Islam purveys.

My advice to sniveling Mr. Martin would be to center punch his next encounter with an officer... Yes, that's right...
Hit him right squarely in the nose! I'm sure a dishonorable discharge would be a badge of courage amongst your leftist cronies! What possible difference could it make to you, as long as it gets you what you want... out. It would make you the hero you long to be, within the circle of snakes you choose to honor. You could all sit around and gratuitously spit upon the graves of the real soldiers who have given of themselves like you cannot. What a smug cloak of fame and complaining you could warmly wrap yourself up in then... all "safe" and sound at home.

What a disgrace you are to the uniform, your country and your fellow REAL soldiers. Choose your avenue and just leave, Sir. Who would want you watching their back in combat anyway?? What man could trust in your ability to save his life if in doing so yours might be threatened?

Go home and stay there. Enjoy and relish the liberty others have died to guarantee you... and good riddance. Enjoy the freedom of speech, too, that you have at your disposal as an American citizen. I would not for one second dispute your right to say anything you wish (...just remember not to deny mine either). Disregard that it will be used as an example to terrorists and their recruits to exemplify the soft underbelly of this country's modern lack of spine. Why should you care when it is superceded by everything that is about you?

A perfect dovetail with the above mentioned video is this catchy creation by another of my visitors, "Nevsky" of Murky Waters blog, entitled 'We Do This For Allah (and Our Seventy Two Virgins)'. When I first began reading it, I thought it was going to be some silly, loopy little sing song. Not only is it quite well done, however, but it also offers a glimmer of hope that ultimately some remainder of the Muslim population could someday clearly see the perverse mentality of Allah and his twisted, murderous directives. I find that encouraging maybe, even if I personally don't give it much of chance of actually materializing.

One last thing, Mr. Martin. This is only Round Two (Afghanistan was Round One and is still going) of a very long fight. Don't even expect it to end for a very, very long time to come... the murderous savages will see to that . So get your whining voice finely tuned. It is the only weapon you possess and you choose to use it against your own people.

*UPDATE*

Has anyone some information on what became of recently added blogger "Nevsky" who operated the "Murky Waters Blog" referred to above??? His e-mail address ended in ".ru" and he was very pro-democracy and Conservative... Perhaps Mr. Putin and his KGB viewed him as a threat??? Where the hell did he go?
